- Provide specialized care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) who require intermediate level monitoring and intervention.
- Utilize advanced clinical knowledge and judgment to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, lab results, and other diagnostic data to identify changes in patient condition and intervene as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate potential complications and intervene proactively.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort by adhering to infection control protocols and providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- Act as a patient advocate, promoting the best interests and rights of each patient.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and efficient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and accreditation standards.

Active Rn License In The State Of Iowa: Candidates For A Pcu Rn Position At Mercyone Must Possess An Active And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of Iowa. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With The State's Regulations And Can Begin Working Immediately.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Nursing Experience: To Qualify For A Pcu Rn Position, Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Nursing Experience, Preferably In A Progressive Care Unit Or Similar Setting. This Experience Allows For A Smooth Transition Into The Role And Ensures The Candidate Is Well-Equipped To Handle The Responsibilities Of A Pcu Rn.
Bls And Acls Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications Are Required For A Pcu Rn Position At Mercyone. These Certifications Demonstrate The Candidate's Knowledge And Ability To Handle Emergency Situations That May Arise In The Progressive Care Unit.
Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree: While Not Mandatory, A Bsn Degree Is Preferred For A Pcu Rn Position At Mercyone. This Higher Level Of Education Shows A Commitment To The Nursing Profession And May Lead To Opportunities For Career Advancement Within The Organization.
