  1. Develop personalized nutrition plans for patients based on their individual needs and medical conditions.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' dietary habits and make recommendations for improvement.
  3. Educate patients and their families on the importance of healthy eating habits and how to make sustainable dietary changes.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, to ensure coordinated care for patients.
  5. Stay up-to-date on the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition and incorporate this knowledge into patient care.
  6. Monitor patients' progress and make necessary adjustments to their nutrition plans.
  7. Document all interactions and interventions with patients accurately and in a timely manner.
  8. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in regards to patient care and confidentiality.
  9. Act as a resource and provide support to other healthcare professionals on nutrition-related matters.
  10. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to promote healthy eating habits and prevent chronic diseases.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve upon our nutrition services to ensure the best possible care for our patients.
  12. Maintain a professional demeanor and represent MercyOne positively in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Dietetics Or Related Field: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Dietetics Or A Related Field From An Accredited University. This Ensures That They Have A Strong Foundation In Nutrition Science And Are Equipped With The Necessary Skills To Assess And Develop Personalized Diet Plans For Patients.

  • Registered Dietitian (Rd) Certification: The Candidate Should Be A Registered Dietitian (Rd) Certified By The Commission On Dietetic Registration. This Certification Demonstrates That They Have Completed A Rigorous Education And Training Program And Have Passed A National Exam To Become A Qualified Dietitian.

  • State Licensure: In Addition To The Rd Certification, Candidates Should Also Possess A State-Specific License To Practice As A Dietitian. This Ensures That They Are Up-To-Date With The Latest Regulations And Standards In The State And Are Legally Allowed To Provide Nutrition Counseling And Medical Nutrition Therapy To Patients.

  • Experience In Clinical Setting: Previous Experience Working As A Dietitian In A Clinical Setting Is Highly Preferred. This Could Include Internships, Rotations, Or Employment In Hospitals, Long-Term Care Facilities, Or Outpatient Clinics. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Work With A Diverse Range Of Patients And Effectively Manage Complex Nutrition Issues.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Dietitian At Mercyone Needs To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Work Effectively With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Be Able To Explain Complex Nutrition Information In A Clear And Understandable Manner And Build Rapport With Patients To Facilitate Behavior Change And Promote Healthy Eating Habits.
