Certified Medical Assistant - Neurology

We at MercyOne are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Neurology department. Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who is able to work independently as well as part of a team.The Certified Medical Assistant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). In addition to having excellent communication skills, the successful candidate will possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and medical office procedures is also required. A commitment to patient satisfaction, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic are essential qualities for this role.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist physicians in providing patient care, including examining, diagnosing, and treating patients.
2. Prepare exam rooms prior to patient visits, including stocking supplies and ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready.
3. Record patient information in patient charts and electronic medical records.
4. Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
5. Obtain vital signs and document in patient charts.
6. Assist with laboratory tests, such as drawing blood, collecting specimens, and performing electrocardiograms.
7. Explain treatment procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
8. Schedule follow-up appointments and provide instructions for follow-up care.
9. Assist with other tasks as assigned by the physician or nurse manager.
10. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
11. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and medical office procedures.
12. Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.
