- Perform complex cytogenetic procedures, including karyotyping, FISH, and microarray analysis, accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning and accuracy of test results.
- Collaborate with other members of the cytogenetics team to optimize laboratory workflows and ensure timely delivery of results.
- Review and interpret test results, identify abnormalities and anomalies, and report findings to the appropriate medical professionals.
- Comply with all laboratory safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Coordinate and communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and accurate patient care.
- Participate in research projects and contribute to the development and validation of new testing methods.
- Stay current with advances in cytogenetic technology and techniques through ongoing education and training.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all laboratory procedures, results, and quality control measures.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Provide guidance and training to other laboratory staff, including students and new technologists.

Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Biology, Or Related Field
Certification As A Cytogenetics Technologist (Cg) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp)
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Cytogenetic Laboratory Setting
Proficiency In Performing Various Cytogenetic Techniques, Including Karyotyping, Fish, And Microarray Analysis
Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Interpret And Report Complex Genetic Data
