  1. Perform complex cytogenetic procedures, including karyotyping, FISH, and microarray analysis, accurately and efficiently.
  2. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning and accuracy of test results.
  3. Collaborate with other members of the cytogenetics team to optimize laboratory workflows and ensure timely delivery of results.
  4. Review and interpret test results, identify abnormalities and anomalies, and report findings to the appropriate medical professionals.
  5. Comply with all laboratory safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  6. Coordinate and communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and accurate patient care.
  7. Participate in research projects and contribute to the development and validation of new testing methods.
  8. Stay current with advances in cytogenetic technology and techniques through ongoing education and training.
  9. Maintain accurate and complete records of all laboratory procedures, results, and quality control measures.
  10. Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
  11. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  12. Provide guidance and training to other laboratory staff, including students and new technologists.
  13. Act as a mentor and resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise to promote a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Biology, Or Related Field

  • Certification As A Cytogenetics Technologist (Cg) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp)

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Cytogenetic Laboratory Setting

  • Proficiency In Performing Various Cytogenetic Techniques, Including Karyotyping, Fish, And Microarray Analysis

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Interpret And Report Complex Genetic Data
