- Lead and manage the research and development (R&D) process for new medical devices and technologies, from concept to commercialization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, regulatory, and clinical, to gather requirements and develop project plans.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify new product opportunities and improve existing products.
- Design and develop prototypes and conduct testing to ensure product safety, efficacy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Utilize advanced engineering principles and techniques to solve complex problems and optimize product design.
- Monitor industry trends and advancements in medical technology to inform product development strategies.
- Ensure projects are completed within established timelines and budgets, while maintaining high quality standards.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to source materials and components for product development.
- Participate in product validation and verification activities, including clinical trials, to ensure product performance and safety.
- Prepare and present progress reports and project updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all R&D activities, including design plans, risk assessments, and test results.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements, to ensure compliance and product quality.
- Continuously evaluate and improve R&D processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Advanced Degree In Engineering Or Related Field: A Senior R&D Engineer At Medtronic Must Possess A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Engineering Or A Related Field, Such As Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Or Electrical Engineering. This Advanced Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Engineering Principles And Techniques, Which Are Essential For Developing Innovative Medical Devices At Medtronic.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In R&D: Medtronic's Senior R&D Engineers Must Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In R&D Roles, Preferably In The Medical Device Industry. This Experience Demonstrates A Strong Understanding Of The Product Development Process And The Ability To Translate Ideas Into Successful Products.
Knowledge Of Medical Device Regulations: Medtronic Is A Highly Regulated Industry, And Senior R&D Engineers Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Device Regulations, Including Fda Regulations, Iso Standards, And Other Global Regulations.
