  1. Conduct user research studies to gather insights and feedback from patients and healthcare providers on current and potential medical devices.
  2. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors in the healthcare industry.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define research objectives and translate user insights into product features and improvements.
  4. Utilize a variety of research methods, including surveys, interviews, usability testing, and ethnographic research, to gather data and insights.
  5. Analyze and synthesize research findings to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  6. Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, user research methods, and emerging technologies to continuously improve research practices.
  8. Lead and mentor junior researchers, providing guidance and support on research methodologies and best practices.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including product managers, designers, engineers, and marketing teams.
  10. Ensure research projects are conducted ethically and in compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
  11. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to execute large-scale research studies.
  12. Proactively identify and address potential research roadblocks and develop creative solutions to overcome them.
  13. Contribute to the development and implementation of user research strategies and processes.
  14. Act as an advocate for user-centered design and promote the importance of user research within the organization.
  15. Support the development and evolution of new and existing products by providing user insights and recommendations.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Conducting User Research: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 8-10 Years Of Experience In Conducting User Research, Preferably In The Medical Device Or Healthcare Industry. They Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Various Research Methodologies And Tools, And Be Able To Apply Them Effectively To Gather Insights From Users.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Human Factors And Usability: As A Principal User Researcher At Medtronic, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Ensuring That The Company's Products Are Safe, Effective, And User-Friendly. Therefore, They Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Human Factors And Usability Principles, And Be Able To Apply Them To Evaluate And Improve Product Designs.

  • Ability To Lead And Mentor A Team: This Role Requires The Candidate To Lead And Mentor A Team Of User Researchers. They Should Have Proven Experience In Leading And Managing A Team, And Be Able To Provide Guidance, Feedback, And Training To Help Their Team Members Grow And Excel In Their Roles.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Effectively Engage With Cross-Functional Teams And Stakeholders. They Should Be Able To Clearly Articulate Research Findings, Insights, And Recommendations To Diverse Audiences, And Work Collaboratively To Drive User-Centered Design Decisions.

  • Knowledge Of Fda Regulations And Industry Standards: Medtronic Is A Highly Regulated Industry, And The Principal User Researcher Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Fda Regulations And Industry Standards Related To Human Factors And Usability. They Should Be Able To Ensure That The Company's Products Meet All Applicable Regulations And Standards And Be Able To Provide Guidance On How To Achieve Compliance.
