  1. Conduct research and development of new materials for use in medical devices, keeping up-to-date on industry advancements and trends.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product design, manufacturing, and quality to identify and address materials-related issues.
  3. Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance and compatibility of materials in various medical device applications.
  4. Analyze and interpret data to provide recommendations for material selection and process improvements.
  5. Develop and maintain material specifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  6. Work closely with suppliers to source and qualify new materials and troubleshoot any material-related issues.
  7. Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise on material selection and feasibility.
  8. Support product development projects by providing technical guidance and conducting risk assessments related to materials.
  9. Continuously evaluate and optimize existing materials and processes to improve product performance and cost-effectiveness.
  10. Stay current on industry standards and regulations related to materials used in medical devices.
  11. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting technical information and providing updates on material development projects.
  12. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the materials engineering team and across the organization.
  13. Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
  14. Mentor and train junior materials engineers.
  15. Represent Medtronic at conferences and industry events to showcase our materials technology and expertise.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Materials Science And Engineering Or Related Field

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In The Medical Device Industry

  • Knowledge Of Biomaterials And Their Properties, Including Biocompatibility And Mechanical Properties

  • Strong Understanding Of Manufacturing Processes And Techniques For Medical Devices

  • Familiarity With Regulatory Requirements And Standards For Medical Devices, Including Fda And Iso Guidelines
