  • Conduct histological analyses on tissue samples to support research and development efforts
  • Perform tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining according to established protocols
  • Ensure accuracy and precision in all stages of tissue preparation and staining
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, troubleshoot any issues that may arise
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share findings and contribute to project goals
  • Keep detailed records of all experiments and results
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and incorporate new techniques and technologies into daily work
  • Assist in the development and validation of new histological techniques and protocols
  • Train and mentor junior staff members and provide guidance on best practices in histology
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to provide updates on progress and any issues that may arise.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Histology Or A Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Histology Is Essential For This Role, As It Involves Performing Complex Laboratory Procedures And Analyzing Tissue Samples.

  • Certification From A Recognized Histology Association: Many Employers, Including Medtronic, Prefer Candidates Who Hold Certification From Organizations Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Society For Histotechnology (Nsh).

  • Experience With A Variety Of Histological Techniques And Equipment: Histologists At Medtronic Are Expected To Have Hands-On Experience With A Range Of Histological Techniques, Including Tissue Processing, Embedding, Sectioning, Staining, And Microscopy. Experience Working With Specialized Equipment Such As Cryostats And Microtomes Is Also Highly Desirable.

  • Attention To Detail And Strong Analytical Skills: Histologists Must Be Meticulous In Their Work, As Even Minor Errors Can Have Significant Consequences For Patient Diagnosis And Treatment. They Should Also Have Strong Analytical Skills To Accurately Interpret And Report On Tissue Samples.

  • Knowledge Of Relevant Regulations And Compliance Standards: Medtronic Is A Heavily Regulated Industry, And Histologists Must Be Knowledgeable About Relevant Regulations And Compliance Standards, Such As Clia And Cap Guidelines. Experience Working In A Laboratory Setting That Follows These Standards Is Highly Beneficial.
