Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Specialist

MedStar Health is looking for an experienced and compassionate Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) Specialist to join our team. The WOCN Specialist will provide specialized care to patients with ostomies, wounds, and other continence issues. The ideal candidate is an experienced Registered Nurse with a current WOCN certification and a minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing experience. The successful candidate must have a passion for providing the best possible care to patients, and will have a strong commitment to clinical excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, and will collaborate with other clinical staff to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive patient care for patients with wounds, ostomies, and other continence issues.
2. Collaborate with other clinical staff to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
3. Educate and counsel patients and families regarding treatment plans and post-treatment care.
4. Assist with the development of individualized patient care plans.
5. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
6. Maintain current WOCN certification.
7. Participate in continuing education activities to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in wound, ostomy, and continence care.
8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts.
9. Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
10. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
