  1. Prepare and package sterile medications in compliance with established standards and protocols.
  2. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the sterile compounding area.
  3. Adhere to all safety precautions and procedures in handling and dispensing medications.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile compounding supplies.
  5. Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely delivery of medications.
  6. Follow proper documentation and record-keeping procedures for all medications prepared.
  7. Perform quality control checks on all sterile medications to ensure accuracy and sterility.
  8. Communicate any medication shortages or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry and regulatory changes related to sterile compounding.
  11. Train and mentor new pharmacy technicians on sterile compounding procedures and protocols.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  13. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  14. Follow MedStar Health's policies and procedures in all aspects of job performance.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Education Is Required For This Position.

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (Cpht): Candidates Must Be Certified By The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Sterile Compounding Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In Sterile Compounding, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Sterile Compounding Guidelines And Regulations: Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Usp <797> Guidelines And Other Relevant Regulations For Sterile Compounding.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: Sterile Compounding Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And Accuracy To Ensure Patient Safety. Candidates Must Possess These Qualities And Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures.
