Job Description

We are seeking an organized and dedicated Patient Accounts Specialist to join our team at MedStar Health. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills in order to effectively provide solutions and assistance to our patients. The Patient Accounts Specialist will be responsible for for providing support to our billing department while ensuring a positive experience for our patients.The required qualifications for this position include: a high school diploma or equivalent; at least two years of experience in a customer service or billing role; proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer programs; knowledge of medical coding and billing; excellent customer service and communication skills; and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the daily operations of the billing department, including processing and verifying patient accounts, insurance claims, and other necessary paperwork.
  2. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all patient accounts, including payment plans and insurance claims.
  3. Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing and account information in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Stay up to date on the latest medical coding and billing regulations and procedures.
  5. Prepare and submit insurance claims and other documents as needed.
  6. Monitor and reconcile patient accounts, ensuring payment is received in a timely fashion.
  7. Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and accounts.
  8. Monitor and update patient accounts to ensure accuracy.
  9. Troubleshoot any issues related to accounts and billing.
  10. Assist with other billing department tasks as needed.
