Job Description

  1. Lead and grow the palliative care program at MedStar Health.
  2. Provide expert clinical care and support to patients with serious illnesses and their families.
  3. Create and implement treatment plans for patients based on their individual needs and goals.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
  5. Stay up-to-date on the latest research and developments in palliative care to continuously improve the program.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and resources to enhance patient care.
  7. Serve as a resource and mentor for other physicians and healthcare professionals in the palliative care field.
  8. Conduct performance evaluations for team members and provide feedback for growth and improvement.
  9. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  10. Participate in fundraising and community outreach efforts to raise awareness and support for the palliative care program.
  11. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records for patients.
  12. Act as a liaison between patients, families, and other healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication and coordinated care.
  13. Continuously assess and improve the program to meet the changing needs of patients and the healthcare industry.
  14. Represent MedStar Health and the palliative care program at conferences, seminars, and other events.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of MedStar Health and promote a positive and compassionate work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: A Successful Candidate For The Palliative Care - Medical Director Position At Medstar Health Should Possess A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Expertise In The Medical Field To Lead A Palliative Care Team.

  • Board Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Be Board Certified In Hospice And Palliative Medicine Or In A Related Specialty Such As Internal Medicine Or Family Medicine. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Proficiency And Experience In The Field Of Palliative Care.

  • Leadership Experience: The Medical Director Role At Medstar Health Requires Strong Leadership Skills. Candidates Should Have Previous Experience In A Leadership Role, Preferably In A Palliative Care Setting. This Will Enable The Candidate To Effectively Lead And Manage A Team Of Healthcare Professionals.

  • Palliative Care Experience: A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Palliative Care Is Required For This Role. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Deep Understanding Of The Principles And Practices Of Palliative Care, As Well As The Ability To Provide High-Quality Care To Patients.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Palliative Care Involves Working Closely With Patients, Families, And A Multidisciplinary Team. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Patients And Their Families, As Well As Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals.
