Job Description

MedStar Health seeks an experienced Histotechnologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing tissue samples, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of tasks. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You must be knowledgeable in medical terminology and have a passion for delivering quality patient care.To be successful in this role, you must have an Associate's degree in Histotechnology or a related field, coupled with a minimum of one year of experience as a Histotechnologist. The ability to stay current on new techniques and procedures is essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as advanced computer skills, are also required.If you are motivated, detail-oriented, and have a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and analyze tissue samples for medical diagnosis, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  2. Familiarize oneself with medical terminology and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  3. Stay current on new techniques and procedures related to histotechnology.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all tasks performed.
  5. Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
  6. Interact professionally with patients and their families.
  7. Utilize advanced computer skills in order to complete tasks.
  8. Provide guidance and training to junior staff as needed.
  9. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  10. Assist with additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology

  • Ability To Work Independently With Minimal Supervision

  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or Related Field

  • Certification As A Histotechnologist (Ht) Or Histotechnician (Htl) From A Recognized Certifying Agency

  • Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Principles

  • Ability To Use Computer Software Related To Laboratory Operations
