- Conduct cytology tests and assessments on patient samples according to established protocols and procedures.
- Analyze and interpret test results accurately and efficiently.
- Identify abnormal or potentially malignant cells and refer them to a pathologist for further examination.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
- Utilize state-of-the-art technology and techniques to perform tests and analyses.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of test results and patient information.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis for patients.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in cytology and participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the practice of cytology.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in quality control and assurance programs to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Mentor and train new staff members as needed.

Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or Related Field: Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.
Ascp Certification: Candidates Should Be Certified By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) As A Cytotechnologist (Ct) Or Have An Equivalent Certification.
Experience In Cytopathology: Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Cytopathology Laboratory, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Equipment And Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Equipment And Procedures Used In Cytology, Including Staining, Microscopy, And Specimen Preparation.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: As Cytopathology Involves Analyzing And Interpreting Small Cellular Samples, Candidates Should Have A Strong Attention To Detail And Be Able To Accurately Identify And Report Abnormalities In Samples.
