  1. Act as a liaison between MedStar Health and the community, building and maintaining positive relationships with community members, organizations, and resources.
  2. Conduct outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about available health services and resources within the community.
  3. Identify and assess the specific health needs of community members, including vulnerable and underserved populations.
  4. Provide individualized support and guidance to community members in connecting them with appropriate health resources and services.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organizations to develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives.
  6. Actively participate in community events, meetings, and forums to represent MedStar Health and gather information about community needs and concerns.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of community interactions, referrals, and outcomes.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community health programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
  9. Stay informed about current healthcare policies, trends, and initiatives in the community and communicate this information to community members.
  10. Serve as an advocate for community health by promoting and supporting policies and initiatives that address health disparities and improve overall health outcomes.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and confidentiality guidelines in working with community members and their health information.
  12. Attend regular trainings and professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge and skills in community health advocacy.
  13. Collaborate with internal teams and departments to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of services to community members.
  14. Stay updated on the resources and services offered by MedStar Health and effectively communicate this information to community members.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of MedStar Health in all interactions and activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Public Health Or Related Field: A Community Health Advocate At Medstar Health Should Possess A Strong Educational Background In Public Health Or A Related Field. This Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Promote And Advocate For Community Health.

  • Experience In Community Outreach And Education: Medstar Health Seeks Candidates With Previous Experience In Community Outreach And Education. This Demonstrates The Ability To Engage With Diverse Populations And Effectively Communicate Health Information To Individuals And Groups.

  • Knowledge Of Health Disparities And Social Determinants Of Health: A Community Health Advocate At Medstar Health Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Health Disparities And Social Determinants Of Health. This Includes Knowledge Of The Factors That Contribute To Health Inequities And The Ability To Address Them Through Community-Based Interventions.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Effective Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For A Community Health Advocate. This Role Involves Collaborating With Community Members, Healthcare Professionals, And Other Stakeholders, So The Ability To Build Relationships And Communicate Effectively Is Crucial.

  • Cultural Competency And Sensitivity: Medstar Health Values Candidates Who Are Culturally Competent And Sensitive. This Means Having An Understanding And Respect For Diverse Cultures, Beliefs, And Practices, And Being Able To Adapt Approaches To Meet The Needs Of Different Communities.
