  1. Perform sterilization procedures: The Certified Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for following proper sterilization techniques to ensure the safety and effectiveness of all medical equipment and instruments.
  2. Maintain sterile environment: It will be the responsibility of the Sterile Processing Technician to maintain a sterile and organized environment to prevent contamination and ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.
  3. Inspect and assemble equipment: The Technician will be responsible for inspecting and assembling all medical equipment and instruments according to established guidelines and protocols.
  4. Monitor inventory levels: Keeping track of inventory levels and ordering necessary supplies will be an important responsibility of the Sterile Processing Technician to ensure that all necessary items are available for use.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare team: The Technician will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure that all equipment and instruments are properly prepared and available for use during patient procedures.
  6. Adhere to safety protocols: The Technician will be responsible for following all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues.
  7. Maintain records: It will be the responsibility of the Sterile Processing Technician to accurately document all equipment and instrument sterilization processes and maintain records for future reference.
  8. Troubleshoot equipment issues: The Technician will be expected to troubleshoot any equipment issues and report them to the appropriate department for repairs.
  9. Train new staff: The Certified Sterile Processing Technician may be responsible for training and mentoring new staff members on proper sterilization techniques and procedures.
  10. Stay updated on industry developments: The Technician will be responsible for staying updated on industry developments and advancements in sterilization techniques to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Sterile Processing Technician Program: Candidates For This Position Should Have Completed A Formal Education Program In Sterile Processing And Have A Certificate Or Degree From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Certification: Medstar Health Requires All Sterile Processing Technicians To Hold A Current Crcst Certification From The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (Iahcsmm).

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Sterilization Techniques: Applicants Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Infection Control Protocols, And Sterilization Techniques To Ensure Proper Handling Of Surgical Instruments And Equipment.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates With Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Surgical Center, Will Be Given Preference. This Experience Should Include Hands-On Work In Sterile Processing And Familiarity With Surgical Instruments.

  • Attention To Detail And Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Role Of A Sterile Processing Technician At Medstar Health Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And The Ability To Work Efficiently In A Fast-Paced Environment. Candidates Should Be Able To Prioritize Tasks, Work Under Pressure, And Maintain A High Level Of Accuracy.
