
Certified - Sterile Process Technician
MedStar Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Certified Sterile Process Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing decontamination, decontamination inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment used in patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or GED, certification as a Sterile Processing Technician, and at least one year of experience in a Central Sterile Supply Department. You must also have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Working knowledge of sterilization techniques, standards, and regulations is also required. A professional demeanor and the ability to work with a diverse patient population is a must. Finally, you must be able to work with minimum supervision and demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform decontamination, decontamination inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment used in patient care.
- Follow all sterile processing techniques, standards, and regulations.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and work with a diverse patient population.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with other healthcare personnel.
- Monitor and inspect decontamination and sterilization process to ensure quality of instruments and equipment.
- Adhere to safety regulations and proper use of equipment.
- Document all sterilization activities and procedures.
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly stored and organized.
- Perform general maintenance and troubleshooting of sterilization equipment.
- Assist with departmental inventory and ordering of supplies.
