Behavioral Recreation Therapist

MedStar Health seeks an experienced and passionate Behavioral Recreation Therapist to join our team. We are seeking an individual who is committed to providing the best care and services to our patients. The Behavioral Recreation Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing activities that will promote, maintain, and/or restore physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning to meet the individual needs of our patients.The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Recreation, or a related field, as well as certification as a Recreational Therapist, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, or other related certification. The Behavioral Recreation Therapist must demonstrate a commitment to the principles of service excellence, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. The ideal candidate should be an independent thinker, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the Behavioral Recreation Therapist should have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to collaborate with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

1. Assess, plan, and implement activities that promote, maintain, and/or restore physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning for our patients.
2. Utilize service excellence, patient safety, and patient satisfaction principles in all aspects of patient care.
3. Remain up-to-date with current evidence-based practices in the field of recreational therapy.
4. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and preferences.
5. Educate and advise patients and families on recreational therapy treatments and activities.
6. Monitor patient progress and adjust plans accordingly.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
8. Maintain accurate records and document progress notes.
9. Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices.
