Job Description

MedStar Health is looking for an experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our team. The ideal candidate should be able to interpret accurately and professionally from ASL to English and from English to ASL. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and customer service skills. The ASL Interpreter will have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for providing quality services to our patients and their families.Qualifications:• High school diploma or GED certificate• Minimum of three years of experience interpreting in healthcare settings• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language, as well as a good understanding of Deaf culture• Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC)• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team• Strong problem-solving skills• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and other stakeholders
