- Perform and maintain expertise in vascular access procedures, including placement and management of central venous catheters, peripheral intravenous catheters, and arterial lines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to assess patient needs and develop individualized vascular access plans.
- Educate patients and their families on the importance of vascular access and provide instruction on care and maintenance of catheters.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Continuously monitor and assess catheter function and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures and patient information in electronic medical records.
- Stay current on industry developments and advancements in vascular access techniques and technology.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices.
- Provide support and guidance to other healthcare professionals regarding vascular access procedures and management.
- Uphold and promote the values and mission of Mayo Clinic by delivering exceptional patient care and participating in research and education opportunities.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or A Related Healthcare Field
Current Certification As A Vascular Access Specialist (Va-Bc) From The Association For Vascular Access (Ava)
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Vascular Access, Preferably In A Hospital Setting
Knowledge Of Current Industry Standards And Best Practices For Vascular Access Procedures And Devices
