As the Supervisor of Histology at Mayo Clinic, you will play a critical role in leading a team of dedicated professionals in providing accurate and timely histology services to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients.   1. Lead and manage a team of histology professionals, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  2. Ensure that all histology services are performed accurately and in a timely manner, following established protocols and procedures.
  3. Develop and implement protocols and quality control measures to maintain high standards of excellence in histology services.
  4. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety regulations and protocols.
  5. Oversee the maintenance and calibration of histology equipment and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and accurate diagnoses for patients.
  7. Keep up-to-date with advancements and changes in histology techniques and technologies, and implement them as appropriate.
  8. Monitor and evaluate department performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  9. Develop and manage department budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  10. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all histology procedures and results.
  11. Serve as a mentor and resource for staff, providing guidance and support to promote professional growth and development.
  12. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering effective communication and teamwork among team members.
  13. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations, to ensure patient confidentiality and privacy.
  14. Act as a liaison between the histology department and other hospital departments, communicating effectively to ensure smooth operations and patient care.
  15. Represent the hospital and histology department in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field

  • Certification As A Histotechnologist (Htl) Or Histotechnician (Ht) From An Accredited Agency

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Histology Laboratory Setting

  • Previous Supervisory Or Leadership Experience

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Regulations, Including Cap And Clia Guidelines
