- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with neurological conditions to determine communication and swallowing needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide evidence-based speech and language therapy services to improve patient's communication and swallowing abilities.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to improve communication and swallowing abilities.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensing board.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay updated on current research and advancements in the field of neurology.
- Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and sensitivity towards patients and their families.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, including confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with training and supervising speech therapy students and support staff, as needed.
- Continuously evaluate and implement new techniques and technologies to improve patient outcomes.

Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology: Candidates For This Position Should Hold A Master's Degree In Speech-Language Pathology From An Accredited Program.
Certificate Of Clinical Competence (Ccc): The Candidate Should Possess A Valid Certificate Of Clinical Competence (Ccc) From The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha).
State Licensure: A Valid State License To Practice Speech-Language Pathology Is Required For This Position. Candidates Should Be Licensed In The State Where The Mayo Clinic Facility Is Located.
Experience In Neurogenic Communication Disorders: Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Patients With Neurogenic Communication Disorders In An Acute Care Setting. This May Include Experience With Dysphagia, Aphasia, Dysarthria, And Other Related Conditions.
Availability For Prn Shifts: This Position Requires Availability For Prn (As Needed) Shifts, Which May Include Weekends And Holidays. Candidates Should Be Willing And Able To Work Flexible Hours To Meet The Needs Of Patients In The Neuro Acute Care Unit.
