  1. Accurately and efficiently process all requests for patient information in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  2. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and privacy when handling sensitive patient information.
  3. Work closely with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure that all requests are processed in a timely manner.
  4. Follow established protocols and procedures for requesting and releasing patient information.
  5. Verify the authenticity of all requests and obtain necessary authorizations before releasing information.
  6. Keep detailed and accurate records of all requests and releases of patient information.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members to clarify and resolve any issues related to the release of information.
  8. Stay up-to-date on all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
  9. Use computer systems and software to process, track, and store patient information and requests.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries and concerns related to the release of information.
  11. Collaborate with other departments and teams within the healthcare facility to ensure smooth and efficient processes for releasing patient information.
  12. Identify and report any potential breaches of patient confidentiality or privacy to the appropriate authorities.
  13. Attend training and educational sessions to stay current on industry trends and best practices related to release of information.
  14. Adhere to the organization's code of conduct and ethical standards when handling confidential patient information.
  15. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the job to ensure the integrity and security of patient information.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Hipaa Regulations And Other Laws Related To Release Of Medical Information: This Includes Understanding The Guidelines For Protecting Patient Privacy And Confidentiality, As Well As Any State Or Federal Regulations That Govern The Release Of Medical Records.

  • Proficiency In Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems: The Release Of Information Specialist Should Be Familiar With Ehr Systems And Be Able To Navigate And Retrieve Information From Them Efficiently And Accurately.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: The Job Requires A High Level Of Accuracy In Handling And Processing Medical Records, As Well As Maintaining An Organized And Secure Filing System.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Release Of Information Specialist Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Other Personnel To Obtain Necessary Information And Ensure Proper Release Of Records.

  • Experience In Medical Terminology And Record Keeping: A Solid Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Record Keeping Practices Is Essential For Accurately Reviewing And Releasing Medical Records. Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting Is Preferred.
