- Provide exceptional care to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Administer chemotherapy drugs and closely monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Educate patients and their families on chemotherapy treatment, potential side effects, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medication administration, vital signs, and treatment progress.
- Assist in the coordination of patient care by communicating with other healthcare team members and making referrals as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of oncology practices, procedures, and treatments.
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to anticipate and address potential complications or issues.
- Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
- Support and mentor other staff members, such as nursing assistants and LPNs, in their roles within the chemotherapy unit.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with the unit manager to identify areas for improvement and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Abide by all hospital and unit policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards.
Current Rn License In The State Of Employment
Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree From An Accredited University
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Medical Oncology And Chemotherapy Administration
Current Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification From A Recognized Organization (E.g. Ons/Ons Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate Course)
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment, And Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills.
