- Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients in accordance with prescribed treatment plans and protocols.
- Monitor patients' reactions to treatments and report any adverse reactions to the physician or medical team.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during treatments by following proper safety protocols and providing emotional support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and radiation dosage.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and medical physicists, to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients.
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
- Keep up-to-date with current practices, techniques, and equipment in radiation therapy.
- Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy procedures, potential side effects, and aftercare instructions.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Adhere to all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards related to radiation therapy practice.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay informed about policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the department leadership team to develop and implement new processes or protocols to improve patient care.
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment area, ensuring all supplies and equipment are stocked and readily available.
- Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the department and overall goals of the organization.
Bachelor's Degree In Radiation Therapy: A Radiation Therapist - Supplemental At Mayo Clinic Must Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Radiation Therapy Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received The Necessary Education And Training To Perform The Job Effectively.
Arrt Certification: Candidates Must Be Certified By The American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (Arrt) In Radiation Therapy. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency And Knowledge In The Field.
State Licensure: A Valid State License Is Required To Practice As A Radiation Therapist In Most States. Candidates Must Have Or Be Eligible To Obtain A License In The State Where They Will Be Working.
Experience In A Clinical Setting: Mayo Clinic Values Candidates With Previous Experience In A Clinical Setting. This Could Include Internships, Externships, Or Previous Employment In A Medical Facility. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment.
