- Conduct patient consultations to determine appropriate treatment plans for individuals with cancer.
- Administer radiation therapy treatments using advanced technologies and techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress throughout treatment, making adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including oncologists, surgeons, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in radiation oncology and implement new techniques and technologies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment options, potential side effects, and self-care during and after treatment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and practices to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences to discuss and review treatment plans for complex cases.
- Contribute to ongoing research and clinical trials related to radiation oncology.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to resident physicians and medical students.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain board certification and licensure.
- Foster a compassionate and supportive environment for patients, their families, and colleagues.
- Continuously assess and improve the quality of patient care and outcomes.
- Represent Mayo Clinic in a professional and positive manner within the medical community and with the public.
Medical Degree: A Radiation Oncologist At Mayo Clinic Must Hold A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.
Board Certification: The Candidate Should Be Board Certified By The American Board Of Radiology (Abr) In Radiation Oncology Or An Equivalent Board Certification Recognized By The American Board Of Medical Specialties (Abms).
Residency Training: The Candidate Must Have Completed An Accredited Residency Program In Radiation Oncology, Which Typically Takes Four Years To Complete.
Licensure: A Valid And Unrestricted Medical License To Practice Medicine In The State Where The Mayo Clinic Facility Is Located Is Required.
Experience: The Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of Three Years Of Experience In Clinical Radiation Oncology, Including Experience With Advanced Radiation Therapy Techniques And Technologies. Preference Will Be Given To Candidates With Experience In Academic Or Research Settings.
