- Provide expert perfusion services to support the cardiac surgery program at Mayo Clinic.
- Operate and maintain complex perfusion equipment during surgical procedures.
- Monitor and adjust perfusion equipment to ensure proper oxygenation and circulation of blood.
- Prepare and administer medications and blood products as directed by the surgical team.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of perfusion procedures and patient responses.
- Conduct quality control checks on perfusion equipment to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements and new techniques in perfusion to enhance patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on the perfusion process and answer any questions or concerns.
- Adhere to all safety standards and protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment during procedures.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure successful outcomes.

Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Or A Related Field Is Required For A Perfusionist Job At Mayo Clinic. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Practices Of Perfusion.
Certification From The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp): Mayo Clinic Requires All Perfusionists To Be Certified By The Abcp. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities In The Field Of Perfusion.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Perfusion Setting: Mayo Clinic Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Perfusion Setting. This Experience Allows The Candidate To Have A Better Understanding Of The Complexities Of The Job And To Be Able To Handle Various Situations Effectively.
Knowledge Of Current Perfusion Techniques And Technologies: Mayo Clinic Expects Perfusionists To Be Knowledgeable About The Latest Perfusion Techniques And Technologies. This Includes Experience With Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (Ecmo), Ventricular Assist Devices (Vads), And Other Advanced Perfusion Methods.
