Pathology Coder

Mayo Clinic is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Pathology Coder to join our team in an exciting opportunity. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and a passion for accuracy and excellence. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of coding and medical terminology, as well as familiarity with the relevant software systems. The Pathology Coder will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of coding and charge capture for all pathology services. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in pathology services. A working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding is required, and certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is preferred.

Responsibilities:

1. Accurately code pathology services using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
2. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of coding and charge capture for all pathology services.
3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.
4. Ensure compliance with all relevant coding and billing regulations.
5. Monitor coding for accuracy and completeness in a timely manner.
6. Keep abreast of coding and reimbursement updates and changes.
7. Participate in coding quality improvement initiatives.
8. Assist in developing and maintaining coding policies and procedures.
9. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
10. Respond to coding related inquiries from internal and external customers.
