  1. Perform comprehensive eye exams and diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases.
  2. Administer and interpret diagnostic tests, such as visual field tests, OCT scans, and fluorescein angiography.
  3. Prescribe appropriate medications, treatments, and surgical procedures for patients.
  4. Educate patients on their eye health and treatment options.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including optometrists and primary care physicians, to provide coordinated care for patients.
  6. Stay updated on the latest advancements and research in the field of ophthalmology.
  7. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records for each patient.
  8. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  9. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients and their families.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings and conferences to discuss patient care and treatment plans.
  11. Serve as a mentor and resource for other healthcare professionals within the department.
  12. Uphold the values and mission of Mayo Clinic in all aspects of the job.
  13. Continuously monitor and assess the quality of care being provided and implement improvements as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: A Candidate Applying For The Ophthalmologist Job At Mayo Clinic Must Possess A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.

  • Residency Training: The Candidate Must Have Completed A Residency Program In Ophthalmology From An Accredited Institution. This Training Should Include A Wide Range Of Ophthalmic Procedures And Surgeries.

  • Board Certification: The Candidate Must Be Board Certified In Ophthalmology By The American Board Of Ophthalmology Or The American Osteopathic Board Of Ophthalmology And Otolaryngology.

  • Licensure: The Candidate Must Hold A Valid License To Practice Medicine In The State Where Mayo Clinic Is Located. They Should Also Be Eligible For Licensure In Other States, As Required.

  • Experience: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Large Hospital Or Medical Center, Will Be Preferred. Experience In Conducting Research And Publishing Scientific Papers In Peer-Reviewed Journals Is Also Desirable.
