- Greet and welcome patients to the clinic in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist physicians and nurses with patient care and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and charts.
- Communicate effectively with patients to gather medical history and relay important information.
- Answer phone calls and schedule appointments for patients.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Provide basic patient education on medical procedures and medication instructions.
- Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on medical advancements and techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for patients.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and clinic operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the clinic manager or medical director.
Certification: A Medical Assistant At Mayo Clinic Must Be A Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Or Registered Medical Assistant (Rma), With A Valid Certification From An Accredited Organization Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Or American Medical Technologists (Amt).
Experience: Mayo Clinic Prefers Applicants With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Similar Clinical Setting, Specifically In A Pain Management Or Poe (Procedural, Orthopedic, And Endocrine) Clinic. Experience In Administering Injections, Wound Care, And Taking Vital Signs Is Also Preferred.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Medical Assistant At Mayo Clinic. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Medical Conditions, Medications, And Procedures Related To Pain Management And Poe Care.
Computer Skills: Mayo Clinic Utilizes Electronic Medical Records (Emr) And Other Computer Systems For Patient Documentation And Scheduling. A Medical Assistant Should Be Proficient In Using These Systems And Have Basic Knowledge Of Microsoft Office.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Medical Assistant, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary For Successful Interactions With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate Medical Information, Provide Compassionate Care, And Maintain Patient Confidentiality.
