- Review and assess proposed research studies to ensure compliance with ethical principles and regulations set by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
- Conduct thorough and timely reviews of research protocols, informed consent forms, and other related documents to identify potential ethical concerns.
- Collaborate with researchers and study teams to address any issues or concerns identified during the review process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all IRB activities, including meeting minutes, correspondence, and protocol submissions.
- Facilitate the review and approval process for new research studies, amendments, and continuing reviews.
- Serve as a resource for researchers and study teams regarding IRB policies and procedures, as well as federal regulations and guidelines.
- Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance of approved research studies, including conducting audits and site visits as needed.
- Participate in the development and revision of IRB policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changing regulations and best practices.
- Provide education and training to researchers, study teams, and other relevant parties on ethical principles and IRB processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Contribute to the overall improvement and efficiency of the IRB by identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Stay informed about current developments and updates in the field of ethical research and regulatory requirements.
- Represent the IRB and Mayo Clinic in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
- Participate in relevant committees and working groups within the institution to promote ethical research practices.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies related to research and human subjects protection.
Knowledge Of Federal Regulations: An Irb Specialist At Mayo Clinic Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal Regulations Governing Human Subjects Research, Including But Not Limited To The Common Rule, Hipaa, And Fda Regulations.
Experience With Irb Processes: Candidates Should Have Experience Working With An Irb, Either In An Academic Or Industry Setting. This Includes Familiarity With Irb Submission Requirements, Review Processes, And Decision-Making.
