Histology Technician

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Histology Technician to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As part of our pathology team, you will play an important role in providing accurate and timely histological services. You will be responsible for performing tissue processing and embedding, staining, microtomy, and other related duties.To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Histology or a related field and at least one year of experience in a histology laboratory. You must also possess excellent communication and multitasking abilities, as well as a strong attention to detail. Responsibilities:

1. Prepare tissue specimens for histological examinations following established protocols
2. Perform microtomy and staining techniques including hematoxylin and eosin, immunohistochemistry, and special staining
3. Embed tissue into paraffin blocks and section, mount, and stain slides for microscopic examination
4. Evaluate specimens and slides for accuracy and quality control
5. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
6. Assist in the orientation and training of new laboratory personnel
7. Maintain accurate records of lab procedures and results
8. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to safety protocols
9. Collaborate with other laboratory personnel to ensure efficient workflow
10. Follow safety protocols and procedures
