
Genetic Counseling Assistant

- Assist in the delivery of genetic counseling services by scheduling appointments, preparing patient information, and maintaining accurate records.
- Provide administrative support to genetic counselors, including organizing and maintaining patient files, ordering supplies, and coordinating meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and genetic counselors, ensuring timely communication and follow-up regarding appointments, test results, and other important information.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in obtaining and organizing medical history and family history information for genetic counseling sessions.
- Participate in patient education by providing resources and materials recommended by genetic counselors.
- Help patients and families navigate through the complex genetic information by providing emotional support and guidance.
- Conduct follow-up calls with patients to ensure understanding of test results and provide additional support as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless delivery of care for patients.
- Stay current with advancements in the field of genetics and counseling by attending relevant training and educational opportunities.
Bachelor's Degree In Biology, Genetics, Or A Related Field.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In Genetics Or Genetic Counseling.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients And Healthcare Team Members.
Knowledge Of Genetic Counseling Principles And Practices, As Well As Current Ethical And Legal Standards In The Field.
Ability To Maintain Confidentiality And Handle Sensitive Information With Discretion And Professionalism.
