Medical Degree And Board Certification: A Gastroenterologist Must Have Completed A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution And Be Board Certified In Gastroenterology By The American Board Of Internal Medicine (Abim).
Residency And Fellowship Training: Candidates Must Have Completed A Residency Training Program In Internal Medicine And A Fellowship In Gastroenterology. The Fellowship Must Be Accredited By The Accreditation Council For Graduate Medical Education (Acgme).
Clinical Experience: Mayo Clinic Requires Candidates To Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Clinical Experience In Gastroenterology. This Should Include Experience In Diagnosing And Treating A Wide Range Of Gastrointestinal Disorders And Performing Various Endoscopic Procedures.
Research Experience: Mayo Clinic Values Candidates With A Strong Research Background. Candidates Should Have Experience In Designing And Conducting Clinical Research Studies, As Well As Publishing In Peer-Reviewed Journals.
