  1. Perform routine and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to Gastroenterology.
  2. Develop and maintain a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with gastroenterological conditions.
  3. Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to patients.
  5. Stay up-to-date with advancements in the field of Gastroenterology and incorporate new techniques and treatments into practice.
  6. Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
  7. Adhere to all institutional policies, procedures, and protocols.
  8. Participate in research and clinical trials related to Gastroenterology.
  9. Educate patients and their families on their condition, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  10. Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and educational activities.
  11. Serve as a mentor and resource to medical students, residents, and fellows.
  12. Adhere to ethical and professional standards of conduct.
  13. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment within the department and across the institution.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  15. Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent Mayo Clinic in a positive manner.

Job Qualifications

  • Medical Degree And Board Certification: A Gastroenterologist Must Have Completed A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution And Be Board Certified In Gastroenterology By The American Board Of Internal Medicine (Abim).

  • Residency And Fellowship Training: Candidates Must Have Completed A Residency Training Program In Internal Medicine And A Fellowship In Gastroenterology. The Fellowship Must Be Accredited By The Accreditation Council For Graduate Medical Education (Acgme).

  • Clinical Experience: Mayo Clinic Requires Candidates To Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Clinical Experience In Gastroenterology. This Should Include Experience In Diagnosing And Treating A Wide Range Of Gastrointestinal Disorders And Performing Various Endoscopic Procedures.

  • Research Experience: Mayo Clinic Values Candidates With A Strong Research Background. Candidates Should Have Experience In Designing And Conducting Clinical Research Studies, As Well As Publishing In Peer-Reviewed Journals.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Gastroenterologist Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Other Healthcare Professionals, And Staff. This Includes The Ability To Explain Complex Medical Information In A Clear And Understandable Manner.
