- Collect blood donations from donors in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared and available for blood donation procedures.
- Greet and welcome donors to the Donor Services department in a courteous and professional manner.
- Explain the blood donation process to donors and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
- Perform venipunctures and other blood collection procedures according to established protocols.
- Accurately label and process collected blood samples for testing and storage.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of donor information and blood collection procedures.
- Monitor donors for any adverse reactions or complications during and after the donation process.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for donors.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for donors.
- Provide exceptional customer service to donors and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices in blood donation and phlebotomy.
- Participate in training and educational opportunities to improve and maintain skills.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
- Represent Mayo Clinic in a professional and positive manner to donors and the community.
Certified Phlebotomist: The Candidate Must Hold A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist, Indicating Their Knowledge And Skills In Drawing And Handling Blood Samples.
Experience In Donor Services: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Donor Services Setting, Demonstrating Their Understanding Of The Unique Requirements And Protocols Of Collecting Blood From Volunteer Donors.
Excellent Communication Skills: As A Donor Services Phlebotomist I, The Candidate Will Have To Interact With A Diverse Group Of Individuals, Including Donors, Staff, And Volunteers. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For This Role.
