As a Phlebotomist in our Donor Services department, you will play a vital role in collecting blood donations from our generous donors.   1. Collect blood donations from donors in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared and available for blood donation procedures.
  3. Greet and welcome donors to the Donor Services department in a courteous and professional manner.
  4. Explain the blood donation process to donors and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
  5. Perform venipunctures and other blood collection procedures according to established protocols.
  6. Accurately label and process collected blood samples for testing and storage.
  7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of donor information and blood collection procedures.
  8. Monitor donors for any adverse reactions or complications during and after the donation process.
  9. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment for donors.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for donors.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service to donors and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
  12. Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices in blood donation and phlebotomy.
  13. Participate in training and educational opportunities to improve and maintain skills.
  14. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
  15. Represent Mayo Clinic in a professional and positive manner to donors and the community.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Phlebotomist: The Candidate Must Hold A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist, Indicating Their Knowledge And Skills In Drawing And Handling Blood Samples.

  • Experience In Donor Services: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Donor Services Setting, Demonstrating Their Understanding Of The Unique Requirements And Protocols Of Collecting Blood From Volunteer Donors.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Donor Services Phlebotomist I, The Candidate Will Have To Interact With A Diverse Group Of Individuals, Including Donors, Staff, And Volunteers. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential For This Role.

  • Attention To Detail: The Candidate Should Possess A Keen Eye For Detail To Accurately Collect And Label Blood Samples, Ensuring Proper Identification And Tracking Of Donor Donations.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: A Donor Services Phlebotomist I Must Be Able To Work Efficiently And Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment, Often Dealing With Multiple Donors And Urgent Requests For Blood Samples. The Candidate Should Demonstrate The Ability To Multitask And Prioritize Tasks To Meet The Demands Of The Job.
