- Conducting cardiovascular procedures: Perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Cath and EP Lab, including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, and interventional procedures.
- Operating and maintaining equipment: Utilize and maintain specialized medical equipment and technology to accurately diagnose and treat patients.
- Assisting physicians: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient care.
- Ensuring patient safety and comfort: Adhere to strict safety protocols and ensure patients are comfortable and well-informed throughout procedures.
- Documenting procedures: Accurately and promptly document all procedures and patient information in electronic health records.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: Utilize critical thinking skills to troubleshoot technical issues and solve problems during procedures.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization: Keep the Cath and EP Lab clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies to ensure efficient operations.
- Following policies and regulations: Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as state and federal laws, to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Training and educating others: Participate in training and educating other healthcare professionals on new technologies and procedures.
- Continuous learning: Stay up-to-date with advancements in the field of cardiovascular technology and continuously improve skills through ongoing education and training.
Bachelor's Degree In Cardiovascular Technology Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background In Cardiovascular Technology Or A Related Field Is Essential For Success In This Role. This Provides The Necessary Foundation Of Knowledge And Skills Needed To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Rcis) Certification: This Certification, Issued By The Cardiovascular Credentialing International (Cci), Is A Standard Requirement For Most Employers In The Field. It Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency And Understanding Of Invasive Cardiovascular Procedures.
Cpr And Bls Certification: Cardiovascular Technologists Must Be Trained In Life-Saving Techniques Such As Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Cpr) And Basic Life Support (Bls) In Order To Respond To Emergency Situations In The Lab.
Strong Understanding Of Cardiac Anatomy And Physiology: In Order To Assist With Diagnostic And Interventional Procedures In The Cath And Ep Lab, Cardiovascular Technologists Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Cardiac Anatomy And Physiology. This Includes Knowledge Of Normal And Abnormal Cardiac Rhythms, As Well As The Ability To Interpret Cardiac Imaging And Electrophysiology Studies.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Working In The Cath And Ep Lab Requires Collaboration With A Multidisciplinary Team, Including Cardiologists, Nurses, And Other Technologists.
