  1. Provide daily care for research animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring their health and behavior.
  2. Follow strict protocols and procedures for handling and caring for animals, in compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
  3. Maintain accurate records of animal health and behavior, as well as any treatments or procedures administered.
  4. Collaborate with researchers and veterinarians to ensure animals are used appropriately and ethically in research projects.
  5. Monitor animal environments to ensure they are clean, safe, and suitable for the health and well-being of the animals.
  6. Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or researchers.
  7. Handle and restrain animals for various procedures, such as blood draws or injections.
  8. Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies for animal care.
  9. Train and mentor new animal care staff on protocols and procedures.
  10. Report any animal health concerns or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  11. Participate in the development and implementation of animal care policies and procedures.
  12. Stay up-to-date on the latest research and advancements in animal care and welfare.
  13. Communicate effectively with team members and researchers to ensure the best possible care for the animals.
  14. Provide excellent customer service to researchers and other personnel working with the animals.
  15. Continually seek out ways to improve animal care practices and contribute to the overall mission of the organization.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Animal Science, Biology, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Laboratory Animals In A Research Or Medical Setting.

  • Certification As A Laboratory Animal Technician (Lat) Or Higher Through The American Association For Laboratory Animal Science (Aalas).

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Related To The Care And Use Of Laboratory Animals.

  • Ability To Handle And Restrain A Variety Of Animal Species, And Proficiency In Performing Common Procedures Such As Dosing, Sample Collection, And Surgical Assistance.
