  1. Manage and maintain all Oracle database systems, ensuring their reliability and performance for Mastercard's global technology operations.
  2. Lead and provide guidance to a team of DBAs in designing, implementing, and maintaining Oracle database systems.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve database performance issues, troubleshoot technical problems, and implement solutions.
  4. Monitor and analyze database performance metrics to identify areas for optimization and implement changes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  5. Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup plans to ensure data availability and integrity.
  6. Stay up-to-date with new and emerging Oracle technologies and tools, and make recommendations for their implementation to improve database operations.
  7. Work with vendors and service providers to ensure timely and effective support for database systems.
  8. Develop and maintain database security protocols and processes to protect sensitive data.
  9. Provide technical expertise and support for database-related projects and initiatives.
  10. Train and mentor junior DBAs and promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
  11. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand database requirements and provide solutions that align with business needs.
  12. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations related to database management.
  13. Foster a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusivity within the team and across the organization.
  14. Provide regular updates and reports to management on database performance, issues, and improvements.
  15. Represent Mastercard and the DBA team in a professional manner, both internally and externally.

Job Qualifications

  • Expertise In Oracle Database Administration: The Principal Oracle Dba Must Have Extensive Knowledge And Experience In Managing And Maintaining Oracle Databases, Including Installation, Configuration, Backup And Recovery, And Performance Tuning.

  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Troubleshoot And Resolve Complex Database Issues Efficiently. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Identify And Address Root Causes Of Problems And Provide Scalable Solutions.

  • Experience With Site Reliability Engineering: The Principal Oracle Dba Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Site Reliability Engineering (Sre) Principles And Practices, Including Monitoring, Incident Response, And Automation. Experience With Tools Such As Prometheus, Grafana, And Ansible Is Preferred.

  • Leadership And Team Management: As A Principal, This Role Will Involve Leading A Team Of Dbas And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Managing And Motivating A Team To Achieve Common Goals And Deliver Results.

  • Knowledge Of Payment Industry: Mastercard Is A Leading Global Payment Technology Company, And The Principal Oracle Dba Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Payment Industry, Including Regulatory Requirements And Best Practices. Familiarity With Mastercard's Products And Services Is A Plus.
