Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance is seeking a Disability New Business Underwriting Director to join our dynamic team. As the leader of our Disability Underwriting department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to the financial protection they need.   1. Lead and manage the Disability Underwriting department, setting clear goals and expectations for the team to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  2. Utilize your extensive experience in underwriting to make sound and accurate decisions on disability insurance applications, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  3. Act as a subject matter expert on disability insurance underwriting, providing guidance and support to team members and other departments within the company.
  4. Collaborate with other departments such as sales, marketing, and product development to develop and implement strategies to increase accessibility and awareness of disability insurance to individuals with disabilities.
  5. Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and advancements in underwriting technology to continuously improve the department's processes and procedures.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as brokers, agents, and medical professionals to gather necessary information and insights for underwriting decisions.
  7. Communicate underwriting decisions and any necessary requirements to policyholders and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  8. Ensure that all underwriting decisions are made with empathy and understanding towards individuals with disabilities, taking into consideration their unique needs and circumstances.
  9. Train and mentor team members to promote a culture of growth and development within the department.
  10. Uphold the company's mission and values, and actively contribute to creating a positive and inclusive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Underwriting Disability Insurance Products, Preferably In A Leadership Or Management Role.

  • In-Depth Understanding Of State And Federal Disability Insurance Regulations And Laws.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With A Proven Ability To Make Sound Underwriting Decisions.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With A Track Record Of Effectively Managing A Team And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Departments.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Business, Finance, Or A Related Field. Additional Underwriting Or Insurance Certifications, Such As Falu Or Flmi, Are Preferred.
