  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations and ethical guidelines for the use of animals in scientific research at MIT
  • Provide guidance and support to researchers and staff to ensure they understand and adhere to ethical standards for animal care and use
  • Oversee the review and approval of all animal research protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and ethical standards
  • Collaborate with various departments and committees at MIT to promote animal welfare and ethics in research
  • Stay informed about updates and changes in regulations and guidelines related to animal research and make necessary adjustments to MIT's policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of animal facilities and research protocols to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement
  • Serve as a resource for researchers and staff on best practices for animal care and use, including training and education opportunities
  • Represent MIT and the CAC office at conferences, meetings, and other events related to animal welfare and research ethics
  • Manage and oversee the budget for the CAC office, including allocating resources for training, equipment, and facility upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to animal research and ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • Lead a team of animal care professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for staff members.
