Job Description

As the Head Cashier, you will be responsible for leading a team of cashiers and ensuring efficient and accurate transactions at the checkout.   1. Oversee and manage a team of cashiers, ensuring they provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  2. Train and coach new cashiers on company policies, procedures, and best practices for handling cash transactions.
  3. Monitor and maintain accurate cash handling procedures, including counting and balancing tills, preparing deposits, and reconciling discrepancies.
  4. Ensure all cashiers are familiar with and adhere to store policies and procedures regarding returns, exchanges, and discounts.
  5. Handle escalated customer issues and complaints, providing prompt and satisfactory resolutions to maintain customer satisfaction.
  6. Collaborate with other store departments to ensure efficient and accurate processing of customer transactions.
  7. Create and maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers, leading by example in providing exceptional customer service.
  8. Keep accurate records of daily sales, returns, and exchanges, and submit reports to management as required.
  9. Conduct regular performance evaluations for cashiers, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
  10. Monitor inventory levels and communicate any stock shortages or issues to the appropriate departments.
  11. Stay updated on all promotions, sales, and discounts to effectively communicate them to customers.
  12. Stay informed on current industry trends and best practices for cash handling and customer service.
  13. Assist with scheduling and assigning tasks to cashiers, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours and maintaining a productive and efficient team.
  14. Ensure compliance with all safety and security procedures, including cash handling and loss prevention policies.
  15. Continuously strive to improve the customer experience and identify areas for process improvement within the cashier team.

  • Cash Handling Experience: As The Primary Person Responsible For Managing Cash And Transactions At The Store, A Head Cashier Should Have Previous Experience In Cash Handling, Including Counting And Balancing Cash Drawers, Processing Returns, And Handling Large Sums Of Money.

  • Team Management: The Head Cashier Is Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Cashiers, So Strong Leadership And Team Management Skills Are Essential. This Includes The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Train And Mentor New Cashiers, And Resolve Conflicts Within The Team.

  • Organizational Skills: With Multiple Cash Registers And A Constant Flow Of Customers, Organization Is Crucial For A Head Cashier. This Includes The Ability To Multitask, Prioritize Tasks, And Maintain A Clean And Organized Work Area.

  • Retail Experience: While Not Always Required, Previous Experience In A Retail Environment Can Be Beneficial For A Head Cashier At Lowe's. This Includes Knowledge Of Store Operations, Policies, And Procedures, As Well As Familiarity With Lowe's Products And Services.
