Job Description

As the Head Cashier, you will be responsible for overseeing the cashiers and ensuring smooth operation of the front-end of our store.   1. Oversee and manage the team of cashiers, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
  2. Train and onboard new cashiers, ensuring they are knowledgeable about store policies, procedures, and customer service expectations.
  3. Monitor and maintain cashiers' performance, providing feedback and coaching as needed to improve customer service and productivity.
  4. Handle escalated customer service issues, finding solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  5. Create and maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers by modeling exceptional customer service and coaching the team to do the same.
  6. Develop and implement strategies to improve front-end operations and decrease wait times for customers.
  7. Manage cash handling procedures, including balancing registers and preparing bank deposits.
  8. Collaborate with other store departments to ensure a seamless shopping experience for customers.
  9. Stay updated on store promotions, sales, and policies to effectively communicate information to customers and cashiers.
  10. Make decisions to resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise among cashiers or with customers.
  11. Work with store management to maintain inventory levels and ensure merchandise is properly displayed and priced.
  12. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety protocols and taking corrective action when necessary.
  13. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and recognizing the contributions of individual cashiers.
  14. Keep abreast of industry trends and developments, making recommendations for process improvements and customer service enhancements.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Cash Handling And Customer Service: A Successful Head Cashier At Lowe's Should Have Prior Experience In Handling Cash Transactions And Providing Excellent Customer Service. This Includes Handling Large Amounts Of Money Accurately, Resolving Customer Complaints, And Ensuring A Positive Shopping Experience For All Customers.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: As The Head Cashier, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Cashiers. This Requires Strong Leadership Skills Such As The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Provide Guidance And Training, And Motivate Team Members To Meet Sales Goals And Provide Exceptional Customer Service.

  • Knowledge Of Pos Systems: Lowe's Uses A Point-Of-Sale (Pos) System For All Transactions. A Qualified Head Cashier Should Have Experience With This Type Of System And Be Able To Troubleshoot Any Issues That May Arise. They Should Also Be Comfortable With Basic Computer Skills And Have The Ability To Learn New Software Quickly.

  • Attention To Detail: Accuracy Is Crucial For A Head Cashier, As They Will Be Handling Large Sums Of Money And Processing Transactions For Multiple Customers At Once. They Should Have A Strong Attention To Detail To Ensure All Transactions Are Processed Correctly And That There Are No Discrepancies In The Cash Drawer At The End Of Their Shift.

  • Organizational And Time Management Skills: The Head Cashier Is Responsible For Managing The Cashiers' Schedules, Processing Returns And Exchanges, And Keeping The Cash Wrap Area Clean And Organized. Therefore, Strong Organizational And Time Management Skills Are Essential For This Role To Ensure Efficient And Effective Operations At The Cash Register.
