- Sterilize and process surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and standards.
- Inspect, clean, assemble, and package surgical instruments and equipment for use in procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Monitor and document sterilization equipment settings and performance.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
- Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare staff to identify and resolve any issues or concerns.
- Keep work area clean and organized to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to safety and confidentiality.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on best practices and new technologies in sterile processing.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards related to sterile processing.
- Assist in maintaining inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to departmental and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to urgent and emergent requests for sterile instruments and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Certification: The Candidate Must Possess A Valid Certification As A Sterile Processing Technician, Such As Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Or Certified Sterile Processing And Distribution Technician (Cspdt).
Experience: A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Sterile Processing Technician In A Healthcare Facility Is Required. This Includes Knowledge Of Surgical Instrumentation, Sterilization Techniques, And Infection Control Protocols.
Knowledge Of Industry Standards: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Industry Standards And Guidelines For Sterile Processing, Including Aami, Aorn, And Cdc Guidelines. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Maintaining Compliance And Ensuring Patient Safety.
Attention To Detail: Sterile Processing Technicians Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail In Order To Properly Clean, Decontaminate, And Sterilize Surgical Instruments. One Mistake Could Compromise Patient Safety And Lead To Serious Consequences.
Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Key In A Healthcare Setting, And Sterile Processing Technicians Must Be Able To Communicate Clearly With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Surgeons, Nurses, And Or Staff.
