- Serve as a simulated patient for various scenarios and provide accurate and consistent feedback to students on their performance.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure that scenarios are aligned with learning objectives and accurately reflect real-life situations.
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times while working with students and faculty.
- Arrive on time and adhere to the scheduled simulation sessions.
- Attend training sessions and continuously develop skills to accurately portray different patient roles.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and other standardized patients to ensure a smooth and efficient simulation experience.
- Follow guidelines and protocols for each scenario to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Provide constructive criticism and feedback to students in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards while participating in simulations.
- Assist in the setup and cleanup of simulation equipment and props.
- Be available for debriefing sessions with faculty and students to discuss simulation outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of simulation sessions for evaluation and quality improvement purposes.
- Represent Loma Linda University in a professional and positive manner while interacting with students, faculty, and other standardized patients.
- Attend regular meetings and participate in discussions to improve the standardized patient program.
- Continuously strive to improve and enhance the simulation experience for students.
- Adhere to all university policies and procedures while performing duties as a standardized patient.
Strong Interpersonal Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Interact With Medical Students, Faculty, And Other Standardized Patients Is Essential For This Role. Standardized Patients Must Be Able To Provide Constructive Feedback And Maintain A Professional Demeanor At All Times.
Clinical Experience: Applicants For This Position Should Have A Background In Healthcare, Such As Nursing, Medical Assisting, Or Other Clinical Roles. This Experience Will Help Them Better Understand The Scenarios They Are Portraying And Provide Realistic Feedback To Students.
Reliability And Flexibility: Standardized Patients Must Be Dependable And Able To Adapt To Changing Schedules And Scenarios. They Should Also Be Comfortable Working In A Fast-Paced And Ever-Changing Environment.
Attention To Detail: As Part Of The Evaluation Process, Standardized Patients Must Accurately Document And Report On The Students' Performance. Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Ensure Accurate Feedback Is Provided.
Confidentiality: Standardized Patients Are Required To Maintain Strict Confidentiality Regarding The Details Of The Cases And The Students They Interact With. This Includes Not Discussing Specific Cases Or Students Outside Of The Evaluation Setting.
