- Provide specialized wound care treatments to patients in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patient wounds and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician, ensuring accurate documentation and proper monitoring of patient response.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for wound patients.
- Educate patients and their families about wound care, prevention, and home management techniques.
- Monitor and document patient progress and communicate any changes or concerns to the physician.
- Maintain a clean and organized wound care environment, following infection control protocols.
- Adhere to all nursing standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current on wound care techniques and advancements.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare team members regarding wound care practices.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and respect towards patients and their families.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Advocate for patients and ensure their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures and promote a positive work environment.
- Continuously evaluate and improve wound care practices to provide the best possible outcomes for patients.
Current Lpn License: Requirements For This Role Include Holding A Valid And Active Lpn License In The State Where The Facility Is Located.
Wound Care Certification: Candidates Should Have A Certification In Wound Care, Such As The Wound Care Certified (Wcc) Or The Certified Wound Care Nurse (Cwcn) Credential. This Demonstrates Specialized Knowledge And Skills In Wound Assessment And Management.
Experience In Wound Care: Ideal Candidates Will Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Wound Care, Preferably In A Hospital Or Long-Term Care Setting. This Experience Should Include Wound Assessment, Treatment, And Documentation.
Knowledge Of Wound Care Products And Techniques: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Wound Care Products And Techniques, Including Dressings, Debridement, And Wound Vacs. They Should Also Be Familiar With Evidence-Based Best Practices For Wound Care.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Wound Care Is A Collaborative Effort, So Candidates Should Have Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills. This Includes The Ability To Work Closely With Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Develop And Implement Effective Wound Care Plans.
