Job Description

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter for our Middle Market Construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and assessing the risks associated with construction projects and developing strategies to mitigate potential losses.   4. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers and clients, to gather necessary information and make informed underwriting decisions.
  5. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments in the construction market to accurately assess risks.
  6. Analyze complex financial data and project specifications to properly assess risks and determine appropriate coverage.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as claims and risk engineering, to ensure accurate and efficient underwriting processes.
  8. Maintain a strong understanding of Liberty Mutual's underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  9. Continuously monitor and manage a portfolio of construction risks to ensure profitability and adherence to underwriting standards.
  10. Mentor and train junior underwriters to develop their skills and knowledge in underwriting for the construction industry.
  11. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the middle market construction segment.
  12. Represent Liberty Mutual at industry events and conferences to promote the company's underwriting capabilities and build relationships with potential clients.
  13. Adhere to all regulatory and compliance requirements in underwriting decisions and processes.
  14. Provide exceptional customer service to clients and brokers, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  15. Collaborate with other senior underwriters and management to develop and implement strategies for improving underwriting processes and achieving business goals.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Underwriting Experience: A Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience In Underwriting, With A Focus On Middle Market Construction, Is Required For This Role. This Experience Should Include A Strong Understanding Of Construction Risk Assessment And Pricing Strategies.

  • In-Depth Industry Knowledge: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Construction Industry, Including Knowledge Of Current Trends, Regulations, And Emerging Risks. This Knowledge Will Be Crucial In Effectively Evaluating And Managing Construction Risks For Liberty Mutual's Clients.

  • Strong Analytical Skills: As A Senior Underwriter, You Will Be Responsible For Analyzing A Large Volume Of Data To Make Informed Decisions On Risk Assessment And Pricing. Strong Analytical Skills, Including The Ability To Interpret Complex Data And Make Sound Decisions, Are Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: This Role Requires Frequent Interaction With Clients, Brokers, And Other Stakeholders. Therefore, Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills Are Essential To Effectively Build And Maintain Relationships And Negotiate Terms And Conditions.

  • Team Management Experience: The Senior Underwriter Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Underwriters And Providing Guidance And Mentorship To Junior Team Members. Previous Experience In Team Management And Leadership Is Highly Desirable For This Role.
