- Perform laboratory tests accurately and efficiently according to established procedures and protocols.
- Collect, label, and process specimens for analysis.
- Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols.
- Enter and maintain accurate data in laboratory information systems.
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment and escalate to appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Adhere to quality control procedures and report any discrepancies or issues.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure timely turnaround of results.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients regarding test results and any necessary follow-up.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Continuously monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies.
- Participate in continuing education and training opportunities to stay current with industry standards and advancements.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and colleagues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of laboratory safety and biohazard protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Strong Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Equipment: A Specialty Lab Assistant At Labcorp Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures, Including But Not Limited To Specimen Collection, Processing, And Analysis. They Should Also Be Familiar With Various Laboratory Equipment And Instruments.
Attention To Detail: Precision And Accuracy Are Crucial In A Laboratory Setting, And A Specialty Lab Assistant Should Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate Results And Data Entry.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: Labcorp Is A Busy And Dynamic Workplace, And A Specialty Lab Assistant Should Be Able To Work Efficiently And Effectively In A Fast-Paced Environment.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: As A Specialty Lab Assistant, You Will Be Working With A Team Of Healthcare Professionals, Including Laboratory Technicians, Pathologists, And Other Medical Staff. Therefore, Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential To Ensure Smooth Operations And Accurate Results.
Education And Experience: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Role, And Additional Education Or Certification In A Relevant Field Is Preferred. Experience Working In A Laboratory Or Healthcare Setting Is Also Desirable.
