Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Phlebotomist Must Be Certified By A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or American Medical Technologists (Amt).

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Phlebotomist To Accurately Communicate With Healthcare Professionals And Document Patient Information.

  • Experience With Venipuncture: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience With Venipuncture, The Process Of Drawing Blood From A Vein, As This Is A Critical Task In A Phlebotomist's Role.

  • Attention To Detail: As Phlebotomists Are Responsible For Collecting And Labeling Blood Samples, They Must Possess A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure Accuracy And Prevent Errors In Patient Results.

  • Customer Service Skills: Phlebotomists Interact With Patients On A Daily Basis, So Strong Customer Service Skills Are Necessary To Provide A Positive And Comfortable Experience For Patients During Blood Draws.
