  1. Perform blood draws and venipunctures on patients according to standard protocols.
  2. Ensure patient comfort and safety during the phlebotomy process.
  3. Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens.
  4. Accurately record and document patient information and test results.
  5. Follow established procedures for handling and processing specimens.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  7. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
  8. Monitor and maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  11. Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate testing of specimens.
  12. Attend training and continuing education sessions to stay current on industry developments and best practices.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  14. Demonstrate a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Phlebotomy Training Program: Candidates Must Have Successfully Completed A Certified Phlebotomy Training Program From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification: A Valid Certification From A Recognized Certifying Body Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa) Is Required.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: Candidates Must Possess A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures Related To Phlebotomy, Including Proper Venipuncture Techniques And Infection Control Protocols.

  • Experience With Blood Collection: Previous Experience Performing Venipuncture And Collecting Blood Samples Is Preferred. Candidates Must Also Be Familiar With Different Types Of Blood Collection Tubes And Their Uses.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Phlebotomist, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential In Order To Interact With Patients, Healthcare Professionals, And Laboratory Staff Effectively.
