- Conducting venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures on patients to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing.
- Ensuring accurate labeling and handling of specimens to maintain specimen integrity and prevent errors.
- Following established protocols and safety procedures to maintain a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff.
- Providing exceptional patient care by addressing any concerns or questions and maintaining a professional and compassionate demeanor.
- Accurately recording and documenting patient information and test results in the laboratory information system.
- Collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results.
- Maintaining inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment and notifying management when supplies need to be replenished.
- Participating in training and continuing education programs to stay current on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations, to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.
- Contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment by communicating effectively with team members and providing support when needed.
Certification: A Phlebotomist Must Possess A Valid Certification From An Accredited Program, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa). This Ensures That The Individual Has Received Proper Training And Has Demonstrated Competency In Performing Phlebotomy Procedures.
Experience: Labcorp May Require A Certain Amount Of Experience, Typically 1-2 Years, For A Phlebotomist Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With Standard Phlebotomy Procedures And Protocols, And Can Handle Various Situations That May Arise During Blood Collection.

Interpersonal And Communication Skills: As A Phlebotomist, One Must Interact With Patients Of All Ages And Backgrounds On A Daily Basis. Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills Are Essential To Make Patients Feel At Ease, Explain Procedures, And Handle Any Questions Or Concerns They May Have.
